Breaking Boundaries: International Experts Gather for African Health Risk Reduction Summit!

Marrakech became the nucleus of global health expertise as it hosted the 2nd African Conference on Health Risk Reduction which ran from September 27th to 29th.

Under the esteemed patronage of King Mohammed VI of Morocco, this event, orchestrated by African Global Health in collaboration with the Moroccan government, welcomed administrative leaders, experts, politicians, and professionals from Africa and across the globe. Their shared mission was clear: to tackle potential health risks and fortify international collaboration, emphasising unity among nations.

This summit transcended traditional healthcare boundaries, delving into the intricate web of organic, psychological, economic, social, and environmental aspects of health. Discussions resonated around pivotal themes such as water supply and management, environmental concerns, and food security in Africa, reflecting the comprehensive approach essential to holistic public health policies.

Health Protection

At the heart of this conference lay a collective urgency for health protection. More than a fundamental human right, it was identified as a linchpin for both national stability and continental progress. African nations fervently pursue the goal of providing equitable access to high-quality healthcare, aligning their standards with those of developed nations. Such ambitions demand substantial investments in healthcare infrastructure. To attain this, collaborative efforts within individual nations and international contributions, including technology transfer and knowledge sharing, are deemed essential.

The significance of this summit resonated far beyond the African borders. In a world without confines, the safeguarding of health in one region directly contributes to the overall well-being of the entire planet. Africa, rooted in its values of solidarity, played a pivotal role in this cooperative endeavor. Imane Kendili, President of African Global Health, underscored the importance of cultural and educational factors in shaping health policies tailored to the diverse communities of the continent, emphasizing the need for inclusivity and understanding.

“In these three transformative days, we emphasised the vital catalyst for change needed in Africa’s health landscape. The themes discussed underscore the urgency for unified action, showcasing the imperative steps required for a healthier Africa.” –

The focus shifted from viewing individuals merely as patients to empowering them as active participants in their communities’ health and well-being.

The summit was graced by distinguished experts from various corners of the world. They shared profound insights on critical topics such as the environmental impact on health, food security, nutrition education, water supply, and the preservation of ecosystems.
